At Maragon we pride ourselves on our drive to create original houseplays. Each year by September learners produce plays which are then carefully selected by the various house teachers. A Junior and Senior play is selected per house. As soon as the new year starts, auditions take place and rehearsals start.
The final Houseplay evenings are then held towards the end of the first term and the different houses compete against each other in the Junior and Senior competitions. The most appropriate houseplay, not necessarily the best adjudicated play, is then taken to the RACA festival in August, in preparation for the RAPS festival of the following year.
The teachers in charge of the various houses are Mr Richardson (Bateleur), Mr Crawford (Marital) and Mrs Crawford (Wahlberg). Mr Hansel serves in an advisory capacity.
