HIGH-SCHOOL
REPERTORY AMATEUR PLAYERS SOCIETY

Repertory Amateur Players Society, or RAPS in short, is a festival in which the best of the best participate in the celebration of stage craft. Schools from all over Gauteng enter and compete against each other to eventually become the best in show.

This normally takes place in May and June each year and the best Houseplay from the previous year will be asked to enter. The director of the winning play will be the director for this play and s/he may choose the best from Maragon’s acting body, based on performances in the previous and current year’s plays.

Educator involvement is limited in an advisory capacity, as this is a learner-centred activity.

The teacher in charge is Mrs Crawford, assisted by Mr Crawford, Mr Richardson and Mr Hansel.

On the 26th May 2011 Maragon performed at the 42nd RAPS festival. Our play, JOHN DOE, was very well received and we walked off with the following merit awards:

  • Costumes - Janine McKay and Danile Venter Acting - Waylann Willis for pulling off the role of the nurse Original script - Danile Venter (hopefully this won't be the last of your writing!)
  • We also received the first lighting nomination for this year's festival - well done to Divan van Wyk for his vision!
  • Well done to the cast and crew for your hard work and dedication: we are proud of you!
  • Thank you to Mr Bissett, Mr Bateman and Mr Richardson for assisting with the transport.
