Maragon’s international rugby player!
Well done to Janco Fourie who was selected to represent the SA District side in Argentina during the September holidays.

At the recent National District festival Janco was also nominated as best eighth man of the tournament.

Maragon pupils excel at holiday club cricket tournament
During the holidays, Maragon and GMMCC hosted the Inaugural Annual GMMCC Pro20 Cricket Tournament.

Maragon can be proud in that two of the top three accolades went to its players. Joshua Hoffman was named Player of Tournament, and Graham Vorster earned recognition as Batsman of the Tournament.

Maragon’s young cricketers triumph at tournament!
The Maragon Primary School U/13 cricket team, known as the Maragon Eagles, participated in the Goldi Cricket week in Standerton, from 8th - 12th of June. The Goldi week has been going for the past 15 years, and this is the first year Maragon participated. This year, 24 teams from across the country participated in the tournament. The Maragon team was accompanied by 5 Gunn & Moore Maragon Cricket Club coaches.

The Maragon boys had a very successful tournament and held the Maragon name high by winning all 6 their matches and thus winning the tournament. They received a beautiful trophy to take back to school, as well as medals for each team member and the coaches.

1. Cameron Hewson: 45 runs from 59 balls vs Krugersdorp North
2. Rickus van Biljon: 77 runs from 67 balls vs Selcourt Primary
3. Morné van der Merwe: 51 not out from 44 balls vs Selcourt Primary
4. Graham Vorster: 65 runs from 66 balls vs Krugersdorp North (semis) AND 79 runs from 72 balls vs Nelspruit Primary in finals
5. Bradley Lynch: 133 not out from 100 balls vs Krugersdorp North (semis) AND 40 runs from 46 balls vs Nelspruit Primary (final)
6. Hylton Olwagen: 43 runs from 23 balls vs Nelspruit Primary (final)

And finally... a HUGE ‘thank you’ to the GMMCC coaches who accompanied the Maragon Eagles to Standerton. They possess remarkable passion for cricket and dedication to the GMMCC players: this is very much appreciated. The parents and players are very fortunate to have these highly qualified and professional coaches to learn from!
