Maragon Pre-School provides a stimulating, nurturing environment where we share the responsibility of promoting sound growth and learning for our children in close co-operation with our parents. We strive at all times to develop a positive self image in all of our pupils.

Our integrated curriculum is designed to equip our children with the life skills and caters for each child’s stage of development from ages 3-6. Our curriculum stimulates the child’s development in all areas which includes cognitive, physical, emotional and social development.

We believe in promoting a well balanced structured programme. Our classrooms and playgrounds encourage children to question, explore and investigate in order to increase creative thinking skills and promote independence.

We include the following activities in our Curriculum:
Theme Discussions	Children have the opportunity to gain knowledge from well known topics to the unknown during these discussions.
Physical development activities	Gross motor skills are essential for keeping a healthy body and strengthening the structure and inner core of the body.
Music	Children are introduced to rhythm, musical contrasts and instruments. Music appreciation and basic notation is also taught.
Creative activities	Participation in a variety of art experiences stimulates sensorial development and offers the opportunity to practice fine motor skills. Planning, spatial orientation, sequencing and many other learning opportunities are created through art.
Perception	Perception is integrated in all the activities presented on a daily basis and forms the foundation for further learning.
Science Discovery and Technology	The wonders of nature are introduced to the children in fun ways during science experiments, outings in the school gardens, finding insects and caring for a class pet. Designing and building constructions with Duplo, box constructions and pulleys in Technology will develop reasoning, creative thinking and problem solving skills.
Early literacy	Children are taught the art of listening and acquiring vocabulary through storytelling, rhymes, poems, phonics and many other listening activities. Emergent reading and writing skills are practised in many sensorial activities and games.
Early Numeracy	Working with mathematical concepts and numbers form an integral part of our curriculum and makes numbers fun.
Educational shows and special days	Puppet shows, demonstrations and introduction to wild animals are some of the presentations offered to the children. Involving parents and the community is essential to enhance the learning experience of each child.
Computer Technology	Working on a computer allows the children to gain confidence in learning through another medium of instruction. The CAMI programme is an interactive way of learning while practicing mouse and keyboard skills.

Grade 000 enjoy a fun integrated and emergent program acquiring self-help skills; playing and working with sensorial materials and equipment, and exploring their natural playground. Children 3-4 can be registered for this class.

Grade 00’s follow on with the integrated program where all the necessary skills are taught in a structured yet relaxed atmosphere.

Grade 0’s are introduced to school readiness concepts to prepare their young minds for Grade 1.

Teachers in the Pre-School and Foundation phase work very closely in order to facilitate a stable and smooth transition from Grade 0 to Grade1.
