At Maragon we offer numerous opportunities on the cultural front to afford our pupils the opportunity to showcase their talent in the different genres. We believe in building confidence and promoting healthy competition amongst pupils from different backgrounds.

Foundation Phase

Our Cultural activites are initiated in the Foundation Phase, introducing all generes to the pupils:

• Drama
• Choir
• Art club
• Choral verse

We promote mass participation, therefore each grade offer their own Art club, choral verses and entries to the NEA (National Eisteddfod Academy) and other competitions. The Foundation Phase Choir consists of members from Grade 1 - 3. We encourage our pupils to participate in at least one cultural activity in order to instil a love and appreciation for Arts & Culture.

Intersen Phase

We offer a wide variety of cultural activities to our Grade 4 - 7 pupils:

• Public Speaking
• Chatterbox
• Intersen Choir
• Solo singing
• Recorder and Instrumental groups
• Art club
• National Eisteddfod Academy (NEA) activities
• ATKV Tiener Toneel

Achievements

• Our FP Choir participates in the ATKV Choir competitions and annual Choir festival for schools on the West Rand.
• We have several pupils who qualify to participate in the second round, quarter finals and semi-finals of the NEA yearly.
• Our IP Choir excels yearly in several competitions including the annual event of the NEA. They are also involved in marketing campaigns and invited to perform with well-known artists and an orchestra in the Linder Auditorium.
• We host annual Culture evenings at school to showcase our talented pupils.
• We have several pupils who participate in the South Africa Drama Championships yearly.
