At Maragon we strive to offer an extensive range of traditional school sports and additional sport disciplines to afford every learner an opportunity to develop their talent and skills.

We pride ourselves in appointing highly qualified coaches and umpires both with regional and provincial coaching and umpiring qualifications.

We acknowledge our sport achievers during our annual prestigious Awards Ceremonies.

Our Maragon pupils do us proud with their outstanding achievements at a regional, provincial and national level.

FINAL TIER SYSTEM/EXTRA MURALS

As part or our ongoing quest to develop our children to their fullest potential, we shall be embarking on a stringent drive to involve all our pupils to participate in the very diverse extramural activity programme on offer, at Maragon Private Schools.

Our aim is to develop young adults across the five pillars on which the Maragon Private School Mission is based, namely; Academics, Leadership, Community Service, Sport and Culture. To this end, we require the commitment from our pupils AND our parents, to support us in our drive. Our school policy states that every pupil SHALL participate in one Sporting or Cultural activity of their choice, per term.

We will be inducing a Tier system whereby certain sports and cultural activities will take preference over others to increase the participation in our mainstream areas. A pupil will be required to participate in a Tier One activity per term in order to participate in a Tier Two extra mural if they choose to do so.

There is no doubt that it is of utmost importance that a child needs to be balanced as they go through High School, however it has become a common trend in co-ed schools that students when given the choice do not participate in a school extra mural but rather loiter in and around the school premises. Extra lessons are also on offer to the pupils in the afternoons before the extramural timetable commences to ensure your child's academic needs are taken care of. The tier system has been introduced to increase participation in mainstream activities (sport & culture) while allowing a student to be involved in more than one extramural activity if they choose to be. Students should not be leaving school earlier than 4PM on a regular basis.

We are aware of the fact that there are many of our pupils who willingly participate in many activities throughout the year, and for that we thank you for your loyalty and commitment to our school. It is definitely noted.

Please indicate your choice by placing a tick in the check-box of the activity you will be committing yourself to, on the reply slip. All students involved in the Debating, ATKV Redenaars or Eisteddfod will be exempt from participating in a Tier 1 activity due to the fact that they will be involved in these activities on a full time basis.

Once completed, the reply slip must be returned to the register teacher by no later than Monday the 23rd of January, who will compile a list of names for each activity, which will be handed to the Master in Charge of the activity. Role-call will be called at ALL practices in the afternoons and a record of participation will be entered into the pupil's Learner Profile at the end of each term for future leadership references.

Attached is also a parent code of conduct which has been developed as a guide as to the expectations we have of you as parents and spectators around our extramural activities.

As part or our ongoing quest to develop our children to their fullest potential, we shall be embarking on a stringent drive to involve all our pupils to participate in the very diverse extramural activity programme on offer, at Maragon Private Schools.

To this end, we require the commitment from our pupils AND our parents, to support us in our drive. We will be inducing a Tier system whereby certain sports and cultural activities will take preference over others to increase the participation in our mainstream areas. A pupil will be required to participate in a Tier One activity per term in order to participate in a Tier Two extra mural if they choose to do so.

There is no doubt that it is of utmost importance that a child needs to be balanced as they go through High School, however it has become a common trend in co-ed schools that students when given the choice do not participate in a school extra mural but rather loiter in and around the school premises. Extra lessons are also on offer to the pupils in the afternoons before the extramural timetable commences to ensure your child's academic needs are taken care of. The tier system has been introduced to increase participation in mainstream activities (sport & culture) while allowing a student to be involved in more than one extramural activity if they choose to be. All students involved in the Debating, ATKV Redenaars or Eisteddfod will be exempt from participating in a Tier 1 activity due to the fact that they will be involved in these activities on a full time basis.

Once completed, the reply slip must be returned to the register teacher by no later than Monday the 23rd of January, who will compile a list of names for each activity, which will be handed to the Master in Charge of the activity. Role-call will be called at ALL practices in the afternoons and a record of participation will be entered into the pupil's Learner Profile at the end of each term for future leadership references.

Attached is also a parent code of conduct which has been developed as a guide as to the expectations we have of you as parents and spectators around our extramural activities.
