ATHLETICS

The Primary School kicks the year off with an athletics season. Within the first week of school we have trials in which every learner gets the opportunity to try out for the various field and track events. This is followed by an Inter-House athletics event. 

Maragon also hosts a Prestige Athletics meeting at Ruimsig where neighbouring schools are invited to expose our athletes and pepare them for competition. This is followed by our annual Inter-School athletics meetings where the top athletes from each event follow through to the Roodepoort Championships. The winners of this event go through to the D12 (District 12 schools) event, which is followed by the Gauteng and S.A Championships.

Through the hard work and dedication of our qualified coaches and our dilligent athletes, Maragon is proud to announce that we have learners participating in all the follow-up rounds yearly.

Maragon took 101 places overall, 23 first places, 27 second places and 26 third places.

D12 Athletics Team:

Fifteen of our athletes participated at the D12 Championships at Ruimsig on the 23rd February 2012. Maragon is very proud to announce that the following 8 athletes qualified for the D12 Team and will be participating in the Gauteng Championships.

Athletics Gauteng Team

We congratulate Tristan Dullisear for receiving a bronze medal in the shotput boys U/12.  He has been chosen to represent the Gauteng Athletics team at the South African Championships to be held later in the term.
