Education is the complicated, multidimensional process incorporating the fine art of preparing and directing the developing child through a maze of developmental phases on their road to adulthood. The educator achieves this by managing the calculated use of various educational strategies as the child evolves, arriving at their goal, namely a state of independent, self-sufficient adulthood. The Maragon Private Schools Group identifies its mission as a calling to produce exceptional, mature, well-balanced young adults who possess a loyalty and love for God and country, capable of prospering in the world of tomorrow.
Gone are the days where school graduates can rely on or expect employment upon their final exit of the school gate. In a global village of billions of people, knowledge is exponentially increasing as a consequence of technological advancement. It is for this complex, challenging world of tomorrow, that educators prepare our youth. Adults of tomorrow will have to cope with a “future shock”, solving tomorrow’s problems, today, in order to cope with the legacy of our generation.
Maragon’s future-focused educational strategy provides the vehicle for pupils to bridge the skills and knowledge gap on their journey to their destination of adulthood and beyond. The Maragon Group of Schools achieves this by using traditional teaching strategies as they selectively blend cutting-edge trends which incorporate paradigm shifts, as enriched, legislated and accredited curricula are taught.
It is said that children are akin to wet cement: whatever touches them in their youth leaves a lasting impression. The Maragon Private Schools Group provide a loving, safe, Christian environment, where children are enabled to explore, discover and extend themselves as they transcend successive levels during their education and development.
It has been stated that South Africa’s success will depend in a major way on the education of its people. Young South Africans in the Maragon Schools Group are provided the opportunity to develop and nurture exciting prospects which lie in wait for those empowered or prepared.
There is a continuing need to motivate our scholars to step onto exciting technology and other career ladders early in their school lives as they develop their whole being while participating in an array of academic, cultural and sporting extra murals on offer.
Leadership and community service foster a sense of responsibility which culminate in graduating scholars who are not only qualified, but also capable, motivated, young leaders who possess a mature sense of direction and purpose.
To educate and guide children to independent adulthood ensuring that they realise their full potential, mentally, physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually. To develop leadership in our learners and inculcate a love for God and country. Further create a disciplined environment in which children are happy and secure as they explore their world. Our learners should benefit from a high level of motivation and achievement, with reference to their personal abilities and God-given talents. To equip our learners with an advantage revealed in their leadership to produce the best results.
The Maragon ethos is to strive for perfection. If knowledge is power, then the empowerment of its scholars can best be achieved through the loving, dedicated effort of its educators.
“The average teacher teaches,
The good teacher explains
The superior teacher demonstrates
But the great teacher inspires”
It is therefore with a sense of inspiration, dedication and love that the staff at Maragon Private Schools are privileged to be entrusted with the greatest contribution to the future, namely the children of the parents we serve.
OUR SCHOOL NAME
MARAGON Private Schools
The name of our school is derived from the name of the owner, Mrs Margaret van Niekerk. Margaret comes from the Greek word Margarts which is derived from Maragon – a pearl.
OUR SCHOOL BADGE
Depicts an eagle which is symbolic of the Verreaux/Black eagle which is endemic to our region. This is one of Africa’s largest and most spectacular eagles.
Our neighbourhood boasts a pair of breeding Verreaux/Black eagles. They are known to be one of the only breeding pairs of Verreaux eagles in an urban environment.

Pupils are encouraged to wear their uniform with pride. The image of our school depends on the appearance and behaviour of pupils at all functions where the general public may judge the school by ONE pupil.
Parent Teachers Association (PTA)
The first ever Maragon Private Schools Parent Teachers Association (PTA) was formed in August 2010 and the Executive Committee was elected. The PTA is dedicated to ensuring that all Maragon learners receive an optimal educational experience at Maragon Private Schools, through a collaborative relationship between parents and teachers for the good of the children and for the good of the Schools.
Their mission statement is: “Transparently fostering goodwill and serving the Maragon community” and their slogan is “Organise, Support, Succeed”. As an Association they aim to contribute to the development and improvement of all aspects of school life – academic, moral values, sports, culture, extracurricular activities, equipment and organisation. The PTA’s objectives include: uniting parents, teachers and learners, encouraging a spirit of mutual goodwill, loyalty, fellowship and co-operation; enabling good communication between the Maragon Community; raising funds to benefit the learners collectively; displaying complete transparency in all matters affecting parents, teachers and learners of the Schools; and communicating a positive image of the Schools, internally and to the wider community.
MARAGON MOTHERS THAT CARE (MMTC)
The late Kyle Wittuhn was the inspiration of the MMTC. He was exposed to a school in Natal that have a mom’s group that pray for the children and families of the community. He was constantly reassured of their continued prayers by providing him with cards and small gifts.
We had our first meeting on the 21st October 2009. The response was overwhelming as we had thirty two ladies attend. Collectively their reaction was to make a difference.
Through hard work, thoughtful stewardship, and single-minded focus on the needs of our children, we will strive to make a lasting difference in the lives of our children, their families and our community…one need at a time. MMTC is dedicated to ensuring and nurturing of the physical, spiritual and emotional
well-being of our children. Through our prayer networking and practical efforts we can offer kindness and support and services to children and families in our Maragon community.
